Which Tiffin dealer do you think offers the best discount on a 2008 Allegro Model 32LA? A friend of mine wants to buy one, but was only offered 23% off MSRP. At 27% off, it would have been a done deal! Regards, Chuck/Bagman57

Chuck: IMO, 23 % off a true MSRP is pretty good considering the unit is one of the smallest and least expensive models. "Most" dealers can offer larger discounts on the more expensive rigs simply because the dollars between the discounted price and dealer cost will increase as the MSRP goes higher.

Was a trade-in involved?

I got almost 24% off in early May on my new 35QBA. That was based on a nationwide request for quotes. My local dealer matched a quote from Sherman RV in Mississippi. They got it when Sherman failed to follow-up with me...

.
The most I've been offered without any negotiating was 27% off MSRP from Bankston RV. I believe they were the first Tiffin dealership in the country.

Ed, typical MSRP for an Allegro 32LA gas is between $104 - $112K. Chuck.

While no one likes to pay any more than they have to I think it's important to look at a prospective dealership from all aspects, not just price. Ed's point is very valid. If you take a million dollar coach and the dealer makes 1% on it he makes 10 grand profit. If you take a $100,000 coach and make 1% on it he'll only make $1,000. All things being equal, how can that dealer afford to give you any kind of service or support if he doesn't have enough profit to fund it with. If he's willing to go unrealistically low, chances are he's only concerned with gross sales and you may rue the day you bought from him. That's the reason why you tend to see larger discounts on higher ticket items and lesser discounts on lower dollar value items.

I'm not saying that every time you pay more you will be getting more. There's plenty of dealers who will take your money and forget about you just as quick. What I am saying is first qualify any prospective dealer with referals and personal visits to determine what kind of service you can expect both during and after the sale. Then see how those prices compare.

You're probably right. It was for a new Phaeton 42' tag axle.
