I used a 4' x 4' 3/4" piece of plywood cut into 16" x 16" Then use Stainless Screws to put 2 together add a rope in between before screwing. You get 4, 16" x 16" X 1 1/2" Pads with one extra 16 x 16 pece.

Seems to me that the cutting boards from WalMart would be much lighter and easier to use. Haven't had to use anything yet, but when I do, I will try the cutting boards first. Anybody orher than Craig P using these with good results?

I also made mine from 3/4" plywood. Two pieces 12" square. Each piece is glued and screwed together with the grain offset on each one. I sealed them with wood sealer and painted them.
Now I have a question. When I attended the FMCA International Convention in St. Paul, we were required to use jack pads on the blacktop parking which is understandable due to hot weather softening the blacktop. But, they also mentioned only plastic or bare wood, not painted. Can anyone explain what difference painted as opposed to unpainted would make? They most likely wanted to ensure there wouldn't be any transference of paint to the asphalt.

I would imagine the paint could get heated up and stick to the pavement. That could leave a multicolored patchwork parking lot when every body left. Might look nice. Naw, I doubt it.

I cut squares 14x14 from 3/4" exterior plywood
stacked them in 4 pieces and used deck screws. I drilled a hole in the center of the top section so I could pull them out with my manuel awning rod. I have a 2009 40 ft Phaeton and due to the weight factor- decided I would need the four pieces per block as I discovered in certain situations was necessary. It has worked out well. I also made extra ones for uneven ground. |

Regarding painted or bare wood jack pads:
The paint could probably come off on the black top in the hot weather so the bare wood is preferred I would think??? |

the best i have used are oak 4x14x10. they have not split nor cracked like other wood. i only use them if the park demands it. i dont stay if the park is too unlevel for the hwh to get me level.
