Does anyone know where the slot in the rear of the oven is vented to? We use our oven more as a bread box than an oven. While cleaning it out the other day I found my bag of peanuts had been robbed and some mouse droppings in the bottom of the oven! That leaves Donna clear on this one! The only way the guy could have entered is thru this vent. Did a search on several sites and can't really find anything on it. I'm gonna put some steel wool in the vent slot to deter the little monster from eating my nuts! Will remove when I use it as an oven. I bet I get some good ones back on this one!

Yikes! That's all I need is for Marilyn to think little mices' could enter her oven from through a back door. Now I need to put on my Sherlock-Holmes hat and pretend I'm 'Rockin' -- I'll find the darn varmints entry an d PLUG it!!

Don't forget to remove the "plug" when in use.....they don't put it in there for no reason. Chief, I'll call Marilyn and let her know that these mice are friendly and they don't eat that much!

Tom, I looked through Atwoods main service manual and I didn't see a vent nor do I think there is one that goes to the outside if that is what you are refering to. Believe it vents heat and whatever the same as a house unit does but the upper plate or ceiling of the oven getting hot and the heat excapes through the grille in the back of the stove top.

Have someone compounding and waxing the roof of the Excel today to can't get into the unit to see it in 'person'.

Are you asking if it is vented to the outside, or if you think it is vented out through the top of the oven. With a hole that big, you would have a hard time building up enough heat in the oven chamber to bake anything and end up heating the unit instead?????

From as clean as the oven looked, would guess the mouse is looking for someplace else to get a free meal. Maybe the Chief's house.

I think you are right. I looked a little closer and I believe the oven slot opens to the rear panel of the oven box and goes up to the rear oven wall and out the grill in the top/back of the stove (venting inside the coach). You are so smart. Now, I gotta figure out how the mousey got his no-business-job-insecure bu** in the back of the oven! In the mean time the oven vent slot is wedged with aluminum foil. The only ways he's gettin' in is if he jumps in when we have the door open! Thanks Workhorse, your the best! Tom

Hey Tom, I guess I've been busted. I was just out sniffing around your RV and smelled this wounderful aroma coming from your Excel. I crawled up your wheels and then jumped on to your frame where I found this little hole in your slide out, so I just popped in to see whaazzuup !! I quitely passed by a couple of 2-legged animals of which I could not determine the species. They didn't see me cause their eyes were focused on this big box they were watching. I crawled under this cabinet and up into this big black dark cave. I quietly creeped around and then suddenly .... holy moly.....I fell into a deep cavern that was filled with all these wonderful nuts. I just knew I had died and gone to Heaven.
