unpluged for a couple days,heard my gas detector going off,indecating low battery.Who in there wright mind would put them in the steps,I can't see the water level the step doesn't go up high enough,have to take them complety out to check them.If I have to replace them,what kind ? sealed.Thay are stock batteries.Any help would be thankfull

Jayson,I agree they are hard to see,but are do able. I imagine the sealed would be better.

I use a mirror to check mine and fill with an old water bottle with the sports cap that you squeeze the bottle to get the water out.

This is what I use to check & fill mine. Sure makes life easier. Battery Filler I bought mine locally. Same thing.

Yep, with flow rite you don't need to see anything or access anything, just stick the hose into a bottle of distilled water and squeeze the bulb until you feel resistance.

Sure wish they made them for the chassis battery too,,,

And when the time comes to replace them, go with an AGM battery so you don't have to deal with it anymore.

Gary, do the AGM batteries have the same capacity as the flooded cell type. I know they cost more but if they do the same job and have less maintenance I would spend the extra bucks.

I will too soon, as I'm tired of the battey compartment being such a mess.

AGM batteries are the best way to go. Superior to all others except in cost.

Did a little investigating into prices.

BD Batteries out of Denver, the only place I could find prices for Lifeline.
Lifeline: GPL-4CT $289.99 GPL-6CT $358.99

Ebatteriestogo.com had three types available
Trojan: 6VAGM $279.95
Universal Power Group: UBGC2 $249.95
MK: AGC2 $299.95

All with similar ratings and capacities except the Lifeline GPL-6CT which was higher. Just for comparison, the Trojan T105 went for $140.95.

Do you think these prices are typical of what I can expect to pay for the AGM. A four battery set could cost well over $1000.

Swapped mine out for AGM's last year and haven't look back. The initial bill is hard to swallow but the peace of mind is wonderful. I went through two sets of batteries, the second set I 'babied' by monitoring at least monthly, topping up with water, etc. and they still went! Also the mess of the corrosion was terrible. These are one of the things RV manufacturers should have as base or definitely an option - one your salesperson should discuss with you.
