I have to say that this is a refreshing post and replies ... if this (Prevost) was posted over at RV Net it would have ended up been closed.

That said .. I too owned a 2 slide Monaco coach and thou I didn't have a lot of problems with it, I did have some ... water intrusion in the slides from driving rain … a lot more noise with a slide and poor insulation in the slides as well as the tunnel when parked at Walmart. Poor access to systems inside the coach to add stuff (I always seam to be adding stuff). Poor handling in wind when driving and safety in a accident.

After many years of owning this RV we decided to build our own on a Prevost chassis. We spend most of our time in warn weather, Mexico in the winter and in the BC mountains in the summer so we spend most of our time outside under the awning. I’m not rich, so I had to buy an older bus and rebuild it. I raised the roof, put a new motor in it and designed and installed all the system and cabinets (NOT face frame, I built boxes like in your kitchen at home only out of plywood, very strong).

The end result is a very nice ride that is setup for our needs. We don’t miss the slides at all in fact we like the noise reduction that a non-slide provides. I can access all my electrical systems inside the coach as the ceiling comes down in ½ hr.

This is our 4th year since we finished the coach and it was worth all the work (2 yrs, around 7000 hrs) and is a dream to drive at any speed and any weather conditions.

I think one thing that is over look by many RV owners is a Prevost RV shell is around 400K and then the slides are around 70K each … that’s more than most finished RV’s are worth, but the difference is it’s made to last 2 to 3 million miles.

That is a beautiful coach you have ... great satisfaction also in that you put in the labor of love and effort to get a very unique rig. Congratulations on a well done job.

Beautiful job 82, you should be proud of her ! I'd love to see more pics. Some around here think that they need the room of a ballroom to be happy. I'm with you, 2 ppl in a 40 - 45 coach, are slides really necessary? Not as far as I'm concerned. Buy the way, can you share the cost of your finished conversion ?

I think Prevost82's coach is beautiful. I had an older coach for 9 years, no slides, and loved it. When I got ready to sell it to upgrade I found out it was like trying to sell a 3 bedroom house with one bath-- nobody wanted it! Again, to each his own.
