Slabman, what color of paint did you use to touch up your welds?
I welded an axle on the front uprights and put some wheels on.I need to touch up the welds.
BTW it works great for airing up the tires.
Thanks

How 'bout primer grey? Big Grin Actually, My son did the welding and finishing and all he had was a can of primer. Because it is under the coach and no one but me sees it, I didn't care. I'll bet you could duplicate it with some spray can paint at an auto parts store. OR better yet, try color matching at an auto body paint retailer like English color.

All I care is it shoots air in the tires at a decent rate. Glad you like it.

Hey Slab

Do you have any digital pics of how you modified the compessor?

The reason I"m wondering about pictures, is because it looks like the compressor would fit in the basement without modification. I haven't tried it though.

Hey Fuzz....How 'bout re-painting the whole thing the new color? Big Grin Are you entering it into a beauty contest or something? Guess I'm too lazy to re-paint mine. Gotta work on the wheels, the roof, the car wheels, the wax job, the windows, fix the toilet and seat vibrator and .....then I might think a bit about re-painting that compressor.

Check your measurements from the floor of your tray to the underside of the frame rail. When you set it in there you won't be able to pull that tray open to it's fullest extent. It must clear the underside of the rails. I Cut out a 2 in. vertical section of the pipe frame and carved a bit off the rubber handle on top, so now it clears.

I'll try to get a pic if have time today.

Slabman,

Be advised that primer does not keep the metal under it from rusting. The primer is only meant to provide a good surface for the final paint color to adher to. Many people make this mistake and find out later that the metal has rusted and has weakened the weld or the metal piece.

Hope this helps,

Frank

Bob...all,

Have you ever seen this set-up or any idea if it would have any detrimental effect on our coach systems?

I wonder how they can increase air pressure with this? All I see is a pressure regulator, a ball valve and a few other things, but cannot tell how this would increase pressure. It seems they would need something to do some work on the air...to increase pressure, but where is it? I guess they need to 'splain how this works. My thoughts are "You can't get something for nuthin". But who knows what's in this thing?

Just returned home from a 4300 mile trip. I got tried airing my tires at 3 different flying J truck stops. At each one their compressor was either broken or didn't have enough flow to air my tires. Each time I had to go to another truck stop to find sufficient pressure. But by then, my tires were warmed up and the pressure reading was no longer accurate. And you're right, the conditions were bad, the ground was covered with an oily toxic waste substance. Anyway, I finally broke down and bought one of those Rigid compressors from Home Depot. Just got it today so I haven't had a chance to try it out yet. The only down side is figuring how to coil and store the air hose.

Jet, your experiences aren't uncommon in my opinion. That's why I went for my own compressor. I use a 3/8 in. hose which I coil up and either place it over the compressor itself or hang it on the bulkhead just in front of the HydroHot. Got a hangar from HD that works for this hose and the water hoses. They also sell an orange colored plastic clasp that can be used to keep those items in a coil. You can also use those yellow coiled hoses, but they drive me nuts 'cause they're always hanging up on something.
