Good post Bob&Pat just goes to show we can always improve our old MH or TT when the time comes if we keep them long enough.

I am surprised the seller revealed his reserve price.
From the web page questions and answers: Jul-18-06 Q: This trailer is immaculate! I'm wondering what your reserve is? A: Thank you for noticing the condition of the trailer. One thing we forgot to mention is both entry doors have new hinges, insulation and seals. We have heard pros and cons on revealing the reserve price, many have asked and we decided to reveal that it is $20,000.00 Ebay Link Bob&Pat RV Retirement Lifestyle You can have “Endless Summer” Michigan / Florida 2003 ItascaSunrise36M 2002 FordChassis Koni's 2008 HHR 1LT Toad Sterling tow bar and BrakeBuddy 2001 GMC YukonXL 1998 Four Winns 240 Horizon Dawn at Walmart |

Just wanted to post some of the description detail for those that are interested,
before ebay removes the ad. Vintage Fully restored and modernized 1948 Spartanette. Ready to Travel! Professionally Appraised at $34,000. The Spartan Aircraft Company from Tulsa Oklahoma started building trailers shortly after the war in 1946. The entire skin and ribs are made from Aircraft grade aluminum with aircraft riveted construction. No sagging here! This is as early 1948 with the round windows in the doors; most have the later square windows. There is a round window in both the curb and street side doors of this trailer. The entire interior was removed from this trailer to allow rewiring and new insulation to be added. Every surface was then cleaned and refinished before being reinstalled. As you can see this trailer has also been modernized by adding a flush toilet, bathtub, microwave and air conditioner all out of sight. There is even a new refrigerator with a freezer behind the original "GM" ref. door. Even with all the modern additions, when you enter this trailer you step back into 1948. Nothing modern shows. Be a show winner in you new Vintage travel trailer. FEATURES AND EQUIPMENT: · New Edison Power Inlet · New 70 amp breaker box and wiring throughout · New Microwave · New 110v receptacles, including 1 exterior · New 6 gallon Water Heater 110v · New 110v SureFlo Water pump and Switch · New Refrigerator with freezer 110v · Pressurized water system using "Pex" System · New Vent fan in hood over stove · Rebuilt Kitchen Faucet · New Drain System · New 18 Gallon Water Tank · New Propane Tank and System · Rebuilt Original Stove, in Working Order · Original Cupboards · New Air conditioner · New Vintage looking Upholstery on Original Divan (folds into a bed) and Curtains · Original Pocket Door separates bedroom from the rest of the trailer · New Bathtub with hand held Shower (under bed) · New Thetford Bravura pedal flush Toilet in toilet room (no holding tank) · All Wood Work has been sanded, re-shellacked and coated with 3 coats of polyurethane · Installed Fold out Table in the Observation Lounge · Original Sink and Counter Tops · New Foam Insulation · New Stainless Steel Screws used throughout · New Deep Brown Cork Floor (very warm and comfortable to the feet) · Rewired Original Interior Lights and new period shades · Rebuilt Screen Doors and window screens (all Bronze) · New Queen size bed and headboard · Rebuilt Original 12v Glass Tail and Running Lights · Rebuilt Original Roof Vents inside and out (2) · Completely rebuilt windows with new rubber seals and glass · Rebuilt Electric Brakes, springs and new bearings · New 15" rims and tires (H 78-15 8 ply rated bias ply) with matching spare · Installed a new 12v Breakaway system for electric brakes · Installed higher, modern Safety brake lights (can be removed after towing) · Restored Original pull-out Entry steps at both doors · Weight approximately 3400 lbs Question & Answer Q: what kind of wood? side walls and ceiling and is it all new or redone. thanks ron A: It is all Birch. Ceiling is all new and EVERYTHING else is original birch (restored). We were able to match the old birch with custom shellac for the new ceiling. All woodwork has been re-finished. Q: I just wanted to say that looking at what has been done and how it has been done it is in my opinion not asking too much for your reserve. Surely it is worth much more than that. If I remember right they did not have toilets in those days. In any case it is just perfect. What a nice T. trailer! Most likely the smoothest, most improved Spartan of it's kind that I have seen among the thousands of Spartans I have enjoyed throughout the years. Good luck, Regards, Alexander. Thank you, Hoverbug for your kind words, however Pat’s brother and his wife did the restoration of this Spartanette. All complements belong to them,
I just posted the link and information for those that may be interested in Vintage RV’s. Pat took some of the photos when we first saw the trailer at the Tin Can Tourist rally in the spring of 2005 at Camp Dearborn in Milford, Michigan. Pat’s brother and his wife took first place at that spring rally. This was his and her first attempt at a trailer restoration. They just completed the restoration of a Spartan Manor in the spring of 2006. I know this is a late post to this thread but I've got to say that was one very nice trailer. Glade to see they got more then their reserve price. It's trailers like that, that get me going. I'm wanting to finish our walls in Birch also. If my job is a fraction as nice as that I'll be doing cartwheels. Thanks for the info and pictures. Big Help and ideas!!
I hope to have our at Milford this spring. I've been there twice but not with the trailer yet. http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f168/michcruiser60/Oakleytrailer079.jpg 1964 Ander-ett 16ft "Remember, the camera always adds ten pounds so the trailer is not over weight." |
