Our 08 Dynasty has that cheap Magnadyne dash radio. Even our 02 Bounder DP had all Panasonic equipment. I cannot believe that Moanco would install something that bad. I hooked up my Sisius this p.m. and he sound is still tinny. I am not sure if it is the radio or the speakers or both. Has anyone upgraded their system? What did you install? Mine sounds like the am radio from a 73 Pinto!!

Does the radio have a cd player in it? If so put a music cd in it and listen for a minute then put the same cd in the dvd player. if thereis no difference it is probably the speakers if there is a big difference check the radios sound settings, concert hall setting will probably sound the best. The manual will tell you how to set it up. I can't beleive they'd put a cheap radio in it unless it wasn't the one intended to be delivered in the unit. Does the build sheet specify this radio?

moisheh.....I threw mine away and installed the Pioneer AVIC D-1....It's an AM/FM/CD/XM/Sirius GPS unit. It's great. The GPS is powerful and the stereo is fantastic. I like the fact that the GPS talks through/over the radio speakers and the volumn is adjustable. You can hook your portable Sirius to it or buy the Pioneer Sirius module that just plugs in.

I would be very interested if someone could recommend a make and model for the replacement of the front speakers.
I will have to say that they must come in a white color and if they could be flush mounted with the ceiling liner this would be a plus. As for the factory installed dash radio, I think I will take it out and use it as a stop in front of one of the tires (preventing the motorhome from rolling downhill). It must be useful for something and I have come to the conclusion that this is certainly not as a radio. The Great Dane |

Great Dane,
That's an excellant idea. ...or maybe it can be used as a leveling block at rallies where they don't like you to put your jacks down right on the pavement. Like you've said, it's got to be good for something. If one gets creative, one could probably think of a few other appropriate uses. Dip Don has found a great replacement in that Pioneer unit. But since I don't need another GPS and DO need a DVD, I'd like to find a replacement that has the same features as the Magnadyne - but works well. So far, I haven't seen anything with that combination of features. |

Home audio ceiling speakers are typically white and will fit in the ceiling of the coach and some are flush mount. Infinity has a pretty good line of ceiling speakers that are not expensive. The only reason I kept the Magnacrap for so long was for the weather band. When I discovered my Midland walkie talkies had a better weather band radio I got rid of the of the Magnacrap and replaced it with an Alpine and installed Infinity speakers. Much, much better performance. Instead of the Alpine add on XM, which had very little viewable info, I opted for the Delphi Xpress RC which has all kind of neat features. mark Dawn and Mark 06 HR Endeavor 40 PET 05 Taco Pusher Molly and Cassie - the little buddies |

How did you get around the 1.d din (magnaslime) vs 2.0 din for new unit? |

Very carefully with a saw. There was room to cut the opening larger and insert the new Pioneer frame and brace it. I think if you buy their more expensive model, it's a single din and the screen slides out and then up. I just ordered an updated DVD for mine. They were $250.00. They just reduced the 08 update to $120.00. My unit is 3 years old and it's nice to know they are still making new map updates.

A few months before I traded our Bounder, I replaced the not inexpensive but cheaply made Magnadied with a Sony single din radio. I adapted a 1995 GMC double to single din kit with a cd pocked to fit the Bounder dash opening. It worked out well. I called the local Fleetwood dealer to get a cost for the replacement Mag...it was 350 bucks. The 99 dollar Sony from Best Buy was sure a better deal. I hated to leave the Sony in the Bounder and get stuck with the Magnadied in my HR, but that's the breaks.

Moisheh,
I totally understand your disgust with the Magnadyne DVD player that came in your very expensive Coach. I chucked the Magnadyne out and replaced it with a Sony CD/FM/Sat/Bluetooth/Radio with Remote and installed two box speakers located to the left of the steering column and next to the door. We can actually enjoy some decent music while motoring down the highway, Oh and answer the phone without violating any laws these days.. I then installed a 110V Sony Home Theatre System and replaced the woofer in the dining cabinet with the Sony woofer, (What a difference). I used the existing speakers in the ceiling and it worked out very well. As soon as I can get the photo upload to work, I will post the upgrade on the forum. Good Luck! Michael & Marie aka..
