Hey Ron, can you add me to the Forum, I am a cast off, Harny Coach Works Renegade Classic. I guess were still part of the Moncao family as they did completely reside my coach 3 years ago and not a penny out of my pocket. Thanks

Hi Jim -

Welcome to irv2 Thumbs Up We’re really glad to have you here as a new member and are looking forward to reading your posts about your RVing experiences and adventures. You’ll find a great bunch of folks on this site who are very knowledgeable of RVing, the rigs we use, and the places we go in them. Enjoy the forums and post often.

I've heard of the Harneys and knew they were now part of Monaco, but don't think I ever saw one. Can you tell us about it?

Thanks!
Ron

PS: Thanks 007

Thanks all, where to start. For one I don't let the grass grow under the MH. I purchase it used from Lazydays in Oct 2000 with 17,475 miles on it. When I purchased it there were some blisters on the sides, well LD fixed them, but it was only a cosmetic thing. After a couple of years they came back. At that time there was still a SMC/Beaver/Harney company. They looked at it and said yes it is a problem and put me on a list. I didn't give it another thought as then I heard Moncao bought them out and dropped the Harney line. Well about 8 months later I get a phone call and a letter to set up an appointment at Wildwood to have my sides redone. WOW. What a shocker, anyway off we go and leave it just after the 4th of july 2003, I think. Told them I had to be in Georgia in August and they said no problem. They call just before the end of July and ask me to come up and have a look. It seems that when the walls were made and painted, there was some dust in the room and it left very small pock marks on the walls, now most of these would be covered by the decals. Monaco was willing to have new wall built and shipped in but that was going to be another 8 weeks, I said I could live with it as unless you were specifically looking for them, you wouldn't find them. Oh, in the rebuilding process, the somehow caught my hot water heater on fire doing some welding. So I got a brand new one and this one also had electric which mind did not. In this whole deal I also wound up with a second complete set of decals for my coach.

I did work for LD for almost 5 years so I did all my own work on the coach except for any chassis work. I still do most of the work. I am having a problem with the front brakes which has been a big problem with this coach. So far in my travels I have only see two Renegades, weird huh. October this year will be seven years and I am fastly approaching the 100,000 mile mark. I currently have 111,200 miles on the coach and going strong. Have a couple of small problems with windows, but in order to get replacements from Monaco I need to take the inside apart to get to the numbers stamped on the frame. Probably this winter as I plan to take up the carpet and put down hard wood flooring.

Back in 1999 the Harney coach line was I guess a top of the line, as the original price for my coach was between $165,000 and $173,000. Don't know what that translate into 2007 dollars. After having worked at LD and driven different chassis motorhomes, I do like the Magnum chassis. If diesel stays cheaper than gas I'll really start using it. While living in Florida I was part of the original group of boomers. Now you would think I would retire, I did, once from the Navy, Once from Amoco, and took SS, but I still work though part time keeping a railroad going. That's the fun job. Something every kid would like to do, be the engineer and blow the whistle.

You all take care and have a happy and safe summer.

Jim

p.s. I forgot, Waverly TN is located at exit 143 on I-40. About 75 minutes from Nashville and a little over 2 hours from Memphis. Loretta Lynn's ranch and RV park is 15 minutes from town.
