For commercial campgrounds the Charlottesville KOA may be the only game in town. It has been given good ratings on RV Park Reviews.

Take a look at Small Family CG in Louisa, VA. PA discounts and not all bad. We stayed there for 5 days a few weeks ago while we did Monticello, Charlottesville etc.

While you are in the area don't miss the Jefferson Vinyard, right up the road from Monticello. Nice people and great history as well as wonderful wines.

While you're there, consider visiting James Monroe's home Ash Lawn-Highland not far from Monticello. Also consider James Madison's home Montpelier about 25 miles up VA 20 toward Orange. I don't know of any other part of the country that had this concentration of presidents, let alone of the stature of these three. Quincy, Massachusetts, comes close with two Adams'.
Enjoy you visit.
