We are taking the grandkids to Williamsburg Va. We will be getting to West Virginia around 7:30 PM we will be on I-64 East. We need a place to pull off for the night after 9 o'clock. We have a 40ft MH pulling a Jeep. I don't find many campground close to the interstate. Thanks for any help. Jim

I am sorry to say that West Virginia is not very hospitable to RV's on the Interstate. Your best option is Jim's Camping at Milton but that may be too close as it is only just over the border from Ohio. This does have pull-thrus which most don't. As you noticed most other campgrounds are way off the highway. Greenbrier Mountainaire campground at Caldwell has some pull-thrus also but only 20amp electric and is not highly rated, but if you are desperate! If you can make it as far as Staunton VA, Walnut Hills is a nice campground.

There is a world class, complete campground behind the Hotel at Sutton, in the center of the state. A gorgeous, full service CG !

Art,
The campground you mention is Flatwoods KOA. This is on I-79 NOT I-64 which is where Rudolph is looking.
Another option on I-64 is the Tamarack Center at Beckley. I have not stopped overnight there but people have reported that it is a good stop. You can park way from the trucks but it is not a campground.

Hey Al !

Silver River State Park is a state of the art campground. Top quality.

Juniper Springs and Salt Springs are both very nice. Where did you spend you time here?

Hi All,

Hey Art,

Last winter I was at Ocala Ranch which is now Ocala Sun for 1 1/2 months, and then I moved up to Wilderness RV Park in Silver Springs for 1 month. This winter I plan on being at Wilderness from sometime end of Nov till May 1. Also looking forward to another nice concert series at Silver Springs and some more rides on the glass bottom boats Thumbs Up !!

Rudolph:

When we've traveled in that area, we have stopped overnight at the nice Walmart on I-64 in Huntington area (I believe it is actually Barboursville). Also, the Tamarack travel center on I-77 is an option. There is ample place to park for an overnight stay.

When in Williamsburg, I can highly recommend American Heritage RV park.

Hi Al,
Boticed you mentioned Wilderness in Silver Springs. We also stay at Wilderness in the Town Park section. We were not there last winter,my wife broke were leg three days before our departure date and spent the winter here in Ohio while she recovered from surgery.
Hope to see you this winter.

Hi All,

Hey SMIES,

I don't want to hi-jack this thread from Rudolph, so since I already answered Art on here! I sent you a private message about Wilderness ! Hope that is not a problem!
