We are going to Vogel State Park in Georgia north of Atlanta Tuesday-Thursday. My job affords us the luxury of camping during the week many times when others are working. This will be one of the last weeks this year (until school starts up again in the fall) when we can enjoy typically near-empty campgrounds in the middle of the week. It sure makes for a more relaxing experience that way.

I will let you know how the campground is...this is our first visit to this park. One of our short term goals is to visit every state park in Georgia.

Then I would guess that you have already joined the www.friendsofgastateparks.org? We got the family membership... We plan on trying to visit all the State Parks too. As of Monday, we head back into GA Vet's again. We like Georgia's State Park system.

I have never camped at Vogel, but have driven through several times in a car...it is beautiful. Many of the sites are shaded and they have a nice swimming area. Every time I have tried reservations, they could not accomodate my entire stay because they are booked. Hope it camps as well as it looks!

Well, the stay at Vogel State Park was GREAT! Big Hand The weather didn't cooperate on Wednesday but we had the video series Planet Earth to watch and the DW had some sewing to do (not really a camping activity but when you live in your RV it makes sense).

The only caution I would give about the park is turnaround areas for bigger RVs. We went down to the end of the loop by site 61 and the turnaround for our m/h was very tight. We ended up doing about a 20-point turn to get turned around and ended up staying in site 60. I watched a few fifth wheels combos go through there with no problem. But the park itself is very nice and was very quiet in the middle of the week.

No, Lorna, we haven't yet joined the friend's club but plan to. Thanks for the recommendation.
