We took our furbabies with us for the first time to go camping!! Everyone had a blast! The park was nice and clean - the only downside that I noticed is that the park allows tent campers to stay in the same area as the trailers...the tent campers had the rowdiest and rudest children - throwing rocks and sticks at the ducks and fooling around with other camper's equipment. Is this the norm for state parks? We are new to camping and I'm just amazed at the lack of parental supervision. My furbabies were better behaved than most of the kids we encountered! Lucky for us a brief rain cloud showed up on Sunday morning and chased the rowdy tent campers away by 9am!! We spent a great afternoon in the sun after that!!haha Sure wish we could've stayed another day or two...aaaaaaahhhh but we will go back! Many of the site pads back right up to the lake! Great campout spot!!! Cheers, Tee

Sorry you had a problem. We love Inks Lake S.P. Yes, Texas lets tent camper occupy RV sites. You pay the money and the site is yours.

We have had to take a less than desirable site because the larger sites we taken by tenters. Texas works on a first come first choice basis and all you are guaranteed is a spot. I have complained to then for years about the system and asking about your rig size. You had better get there early for a decent site if you have a larger rig.

As for misguided kids, take it up with the park ranger and let him talk to the parents. It is a sad commentary on some parents, but we see all too many just turn the kids loose when they unload. As long as the kids are not bothering the parents, they do not worry about them. But alk it takes is one or two like that and it ruins it for everyone,

Sorry to get so negative, but I have the bad experiences with kids like you encountered.

We love to go to Inks in April. The drive between Burnett, Llano and up toward Mason is spectacular with all of the wild flowers.
