I custom-ordered a 2007 Gulfstream Innsbruck 36FRS (with front queen IPO bunk room) park trailer from a totally awesome dealer in Bedford, VA http://www.grandviewtrailersales.com. While our list below is long (we have high expectations), we have had a ball with our camper and can't wait for April 1 to roll around!

Kenneth at Grandview Trailer Sales (GTS) has been great working with me on warranty issues and has provided advice on other re-engineering things I have taken care of. Here's a list I provided him...

Rear bedroom:
1. Shelves at the bed are too close to the mattress to actually make up the bed!
2. Closets – there are two closets. One is deep, one is shallow. The clothes hanging hardware was installed in the shallow one (not large enough for standard coat hanger).
3. Why don’t the side windows on the slide open?
4. Heat vent should include a damper given the proximity to the furnace
5. Where’s the porch light? There should be a light at this entrance that can be turned on from the living room or the bedroom.

Bathroom:
1. Heat vent should include a damper given the proximity to the furnace
2. Would it be possible for the lavatory door to be a hidden door? This would aid in traffic flow.
3. Cheap fixtures (soap dish, toothbrush holder, towel ring, etc.) should either be upgraded or just left off.
4. Mirror above sink should be replaced with mirrored medicine cabinet.
5. We were expecting a corner seat in the shower based on the floor plan we had received. When a customer ordering a unit receives one floor plan on paper and another in reality, those differences should be discussed in advance with the customer.

Living room:
1. Heat register in living room is behind the door
2. Door between kitchen and bathroom must be completely closed in order to open the refrigerator door all of the way
3. Right doors on pantry can’t be opened all of the way because of the back of the dinette seat. Moving something a few inches up or down would take care of this.
4. Cabinet door under the sink could be much larger, providing easier access to the storage area.
5. Both of the benches on the dinette should be drawers opening inside. This is a park trailer and there is already enough outside storage.
6. Junction box behind sofa should be better hidden.
7. Sliding glass door frame has no insulation – there are gaps at the top and on the left side.

Front bedroom:
1. There is no output from the furnace through the front bedroom vent.
2. Front bedroom residential door should be a hidden or sliding door with the sleeper sofa upgrade. The door must either be wide open or shut tight ALL NIGHT LONG when the sofa bed is in use.

Things that have required repair:
1. Leak at the outdoor shower (I repaired)
2. Leak where the awning track seams meet (GTS repaired)
3. No heat to the front bedroom (GTS installed another duct)
4. Heat vent hole cut too large in front bedroom, leaving ¼” gap (I repaired)
5. Backside entry door to pass through storage under front bed required caulking from outside and resealing from inside (I repaired)
6. Molding at the top left of the sliding glass door was not attached to the frame (I repaired)
7. The door in the back bedroom was not completely caulked (I repaired)
8. A gap at the floor of the rear slide was repaired by the dealer before delivery

Other issues:
1. The mirror above the sink in the bathroom is not centered but cannot be removed and centered because it is glued in to place.

*** Other things I have not shared with Kenneth at GTS -- I will replace the drawer tracks, etc on the pot and pan drawer as they began failing toward the end of last season...the way cheap DVD player has only played 20% of the DVDs we have attempted to play in it...the scare light and the porch light are 3 feet apart and are the ONLY outside lights on the 36' park trailer except for the tongue light-- put a porch light at each door, put lights on all four sides...put an outlet on the rear side of the trailer

I plan to add a thermostat control to the ac unit on the roof. I want to mount a t-stat on the wall in the hallway, and have it control the ac unit. This way I can program it and have it come on about an hour before I get home, and have it cycle off and on instead of running full tilt and freezing me to death. I think all I will need is a t-stat, a transformer, and a contactor.
Any ideas?

southernkilowatt, it sounds like other than the wiriing you have the neccesary components to control teh line side of the air conditioner. What kind of controls do have on it now?

All it has now is the knob on the ac unit itself. My plan is to leave it on, and use it as a master switch. In other words I'll be able to turn the whole thing off and not have it come on at all.
Tks for the reply

Smile Okay, here's my experience with Gulf Stream. I guess I too got one of the better rigs. I've had the sunsport for 8 years I intended to keep it only about 3-4 years but when a unit is running well I believe it is wise to keep it. You could trade it in for a lemon. We have travelled from coast to coast in North America and from Timmins (northern Ontario down to mid Florida, southern Texas (Brownville) and over to Yuma and the Big Event at the Big Red tent in Quartzite and California and more than once. The rig never let us down on any trip in 8 years and 140,000 kilometers (88000 miles). It was not an upper end unit but we did good maintence on it and never had a major problem or cost. That's not say it did not have any problems, they all do it's the nature of any big, expensive toy.

NOVI .... good post. I have a 2004 SunVoyager,
Yes i've had some minor problems but, all in all, I love the coach. Bought it in December 2004, used (3000 miles), have 26,000 on it now.

I have made some changes to make it more comfortable for our travel, and added "goodies" I just had to have.

Happy travels, Clyde

Had our Sun Voyager since April 2004. Put 39000 miles on it and yes we have had issues. All have been fixed by the dealer or gulfstream, so I can't ask for more. We even had a paint issue and got it resolved at the BHII in June of this year. This is our 4th motorhome, we have had Allegro, Winnebago, Pace Arrow and I will buy another Gulfstream if I buy a new motorhome. We feel we got a good bang for the buck with this one.

Well, today I finally got around to installing a transformer, double pole contactor, and a brand new Honeywell 8000 programable thermostat on the rooftop ac unit. The wiring was pretty much straight forward, just a few cuts here, and terminations there, and wala its done. I really like the thermostat, its 7 day programmable, and I can lock it too. I think I want it to come on around 3 in the afternoon, and have it nice and cool when I come home.
Works great so far, just finding out what is a comfortable temperature. So far it seems that 73 degrees is working pretty good.
Wish me luck!
