Sorry if this is a bit long for my first posting. As an ole' Redneck, If you would have told me on a Sunday night I would have been sit-in in front of a computer look-in for info on line I would have laughed.

These sites are great place to locate new vendor and helpful info. In my 40 years of dealing with the RV business on a personal level. I have learned when anyone attempts to steer me in one direction or the other they may have a personal motive.

When I sold my heavy equipment and construction business I walked into an RV dealership to explore the new truck style motor homes. The sales person did not know of my back ground and started in on the canned sales pitch you speak off which he learned at manufactures meetings. I was far from truthful. But as you pointed out for most companies the truth would hurt sales.

About this same time the internet was coming of age. I started reading forms like this. In these forums I found the same issue except this time it is a dealer or sales person posing as helpful blogger. Now anytime a blogger attempts to influence the reader, guess who I call. Yes, the company they are degrading.

In most cases the companies they are bashing have been the most educational and informative. So I believe the education process is what most manufacture is afraid of. Why? The Dot Com. makes less profit? The Dot com has lower over head? Then a few years later the dealers started building web sites. Still the high prices and high overhead.

When the reader finds anyone knocking or spinning anything stop. Contact the vender directly to find out more about that company. Never take anything at face value. When anyone is looking for a new or used RV only believe a small fraction of what you read on the internet or in trade magazines that generate their profit from RV dealers or RV Manufactures advertising. Remember it’s all about the company and the warranty.

I have purchase RV’s and trucks from dealers. They would make enough on the conversion to keep in debit for years to come. With the internet I have learned the big dealers may have websites but they also have big over head.

Last year I priced a Ford F 650 from a big Ford dealer for over $100k. Then I went on line to find the same conversion for $85,900 out the back door deals set up by a broker/middleman/Internet or Dot Com or what ever. If a Dot Com can save me $15k over the ole’ brick and mortar guy, I say lets save a dime. LOL!

Since 1999 I have purchase two boats, five RV haulers and a truck conversion motor home from internet sites with out the back door deals set up by a broker/middleman/Internet or Dot Com or what ever. In most case I have had great luck.

What do ya’ll think about these out the back door deals set up by a broker/middleman/Internet or Dot Com website vs. paying the customer paying the retail dealer?

Hey 007! Thank you for the support.

Currently I am torn between having a custom Motorhome and Trailer built and or buying a turn key unit.

I have run into a few not so happy customers with a wide tails or two about a few of the well know custom manufactures. But, I hate taking an out of the box conversion. Any suggestions?

Go with a custom built setup and you can be involved from the beginning and have all the fun along the way. It will be the way you want it and you won't have to settle for someone else's design.

Hey guys I may have found the correct weed for me. LOL!

Look at this rig. This company is producing custom tow vehicles and motor homes using COE Freightliner chassis. No wasted space with that long nose here. For you guys on a turn key budget this high end conversion is more then you can afford. The company manufactures the shell from of .90 Alum. and then a company of your choice completes the interior. I am going with Nashville coach.

See this link. I have set up a private viewing at the 2007 SEMA show in Vegas.
