I want to thank Nathan at Becks Custom Coach for getting me the Freightliner M2-106 specifications.

Unlike a traditional motorhome where you are limited to a few chassis choices, a truck conversion has much more flexibility. You could use a used chassis or new one, a business class or a class 8 truck, and mfg'ers such as Freightliner, Kenworth, Peterbuilt or Volvo. If you go with a new truck, you actually need to specify every single component on that chassis. So it is important to have help and Nathan at Beck's with his extensive experience in the industry made spec'ing the truck a snap.

Hey Don don't I know that. Here's the rub. The M2-106 chassis has a 1,000 sq/in radiator which is the limiting factor on the horsepower. The MBE926 motor can be wicked up to 330 hp and a 1,000 ft/lbs of torque, but is derated in this application.

I spoke to the Freightliner dealer who could have talked me into something bigger, but insists this combo will be excellent for my application. (RV'er not racer pulling a big trailer)

Most of the new conversions being produced are on a FL Columbia chassis's with a 450 hp. But these are setup for racers pulling triple axle 30 plus foot trailers.

The drawback with the Columbia chassis is that the cab is 2' longer and higher. Both putting a crimp in my plans. So we are sticking to the M2-106.

Here are the spec's on the Mercedes MBE 926

I hope this isn't an oversight, but I did notice that you didn't specify whether or not the marker lights switch was held in with left hand threaded bolts or right hand. You'd hate to have them super glue it in place. Laugh

To be honest, I hate the look of that truck. The nose of that truck is way to squared off, just looks goofy.

If I had to do it over again, I would have done it on a Columbia which is darn near the same price as the 112 and I probably would still have the conversion today.

There were 14 pages of spec sheets on my Columbia when I ordered it.
I found a sales rep at Freightliner in Springfield, Illinois that knew what to spec for a motorhome. (he works with the conversion builders in Elkhart)
The dealer in OKC didn't have a clue.
