Asking the same question today I was told there are 35 rigs. Seems there are about 75 folks plus a few more than a dozen children. Speaking of the kids, ranging in age between pre-school to high school, they have had a marvelous time. Sandy has thought of every thing that makes a Rally fun for everyone. All week the children prepared for a play based on the life of Doc Holiday which was performed this evening to a packed house at the outdoor stage area. What great fun for everyone.

Dear Sandy was just worn herself to a frazzle coordinating this super enjoyable event. As we parted the Rally Hall late this evening, after fun games together, she commented that her review of our daily activity to the forum would be posted in the morning after a good night's rest. Well deserved IMHO. I'll leave the honor of further detail to her regular post here.

Wilson's RV Park & Resort is simply a wonderful place to enjoy friends & family while camping. Please consider staying with the Wilson's next time you pass though north central Texas. 5 Stars in my book!

THURSDAY HAPPENINGS

I tried to respond to FC Ontario's post last night, but alas the wi-fi was down for a short while and by the time it came back up I was fast asleep! Thanks MtnVision for posting back for me!

We have 36 rigs and I cottage here at the National, so it's a great group of folks having fun here this week! At past Nationals, the attendance "numbers" have been higher (60-65 rigs), but I don't look at numbers....I look at people! On the down side - time, distance & fuel prices took it's toll on attendance, BUT on the up side, we all came to Perrin to renew old friendships and make new ones and we've had a wonderful week doing just that!

I'd like to make a request to change the name from National RALLY to National REUNION...because that's what it is! One of the things that sets iRV2.com apart from all other RV organizations is the "family feeling" we have. We are just one big ole family getting together one year looking forward to the next reunion.

Thursday began with "flappers" Ken Wilson, Bob Wurch, Mike Brown and Jerry Curtis flipping flapjacks by the dozens! A stack of 200 pancakes is a site to see! A group of ladies were slicing and dicing fresh fruit to add to the breakfast. I don't think anyone left hungry!

Unfortunately, the wind in the west field didn't cooperate yesterday morning to see a host of kites flying over Mitchell RV Park so that was the only cancellation on the schedule this entire week! Of course, we've determined there's a couple of folks here with enough "HOT AIR" that should have stood in the field to get those kites in flight......but Wave

At 5pm, we all gathered back at the rally hall for the potluck supper....seems like we're always eating! Hungry The Texas Boomers tell everyone we are "an eating group with a RV'ing disorder"...which has proved once again to be true! 4 tables SHOULD have been enough to hold the food brought in, but we had to set up one more!

After supper, we all headed to the Stockyard Stage to watch our young folks perform their Old West Play. Since Monday, we've had FOUR...I repeat FOUR rehearsals for this event. After the 2nd practice on Tuesday, I honestly did not think it would come together, but those kids continue to amaze me! Michelle Rowell got it on video and we're hoping Bill can get it up on YouTube with a link here on this thread so everyone can see OUR kids shine!

After the show, we headed back to the rally building to cool off with the BIGGEST AND BEST ice cream social in iRV2.com history! Texans proudly boast that everything is bigger and better in Texas....and we can prove it now Nod

We put together a 10 ft long banana split! I can't wait for you to see the pictures (being posted later today) of this thing! We put 6 gallons of ice cream in a 'trough" topped with hot fudge, strawberry, pineapple, butterscotch ...then a ton of whipped cream, cherries and pecans...and lined it with 80 bananas! Big Hand It was a site to behold....and it was G-O-N-E in 15 minutes!!!

Good friends, good food and good fellowship...it just doesn't get any better than this!

Life is sweet when the Boomers meet!

Fantastic Rally! Party Sharon, Bella and I had to depart one day early, but I'm telling you what...we had a FANTASTIC time for 7 long days. Sandy and her team of volunteers really did it up in a big way. This was our first National and I hope we can make many, many more. Sadly though, we made our 150 mile trek back to Wonderful Waco this afternoon and now that the unpacking is just about done, it'll be time to sit back and think about all the great friendships we made and how we will miss everyone. But hey......it isn't good-bye...it's, "see ya at the next rally ya'll"!
