Once i figured out how to get on this WiFi here.....Judy and I are in the same campground as "Sunny" in Memphis (formerly ABC, now KOA). Tomorrow we show our granddaughter Graceland and head for Tupelo for the other end of Elvis' life.

We made it to Arkadelphia, AR but not before having a flat @ ABC.
Packed up & ready to pull out, lowered the jacks & oops a flat tire. Calle AAA & after about an hour a very nice man from Larry's Emergency Service came and fixed our tire.
We are leaving here about 8:30 and heading up for home.
Thanks t all for a great time.
Really enjoyed the early morning coffee.

We leave ABC tomorrow (Monday) to hit the road again. We won't be back at our ranch until late September.

It was a little strange watching the flurry of activity and the mass exodus from ABC yesterday - Jane and I felt like we got abandoned by our friends Eek

We had a great time here in spite of the heat and enjoyed making many new friends and putting a face to folks we only knew about from the forums.

The rally was extremely well coordinated and well managed - thanks Bob and everybody else who worked so hard to make it a success. Big Hand Good Job

Blessings to all and may you always have a good tailwind and cheap fuel!

The Creekmores departed ABC on Saturday morning at 7:15 am and made it all the way to McKinney, Texas before pooping out!

We arrived at a roadside RV Park in McKinney about 3:30 pm on Saturday - didn't even unhitch...just went to bed! We were two beaten-to-death-travelers on-US69 through Oklahoma! It is a KILLER! They should use some of the revenue from the casinos to improve the roads to get to the casinos!!! Laugh

Left McKinney at 8:00am this morning and just pulled into our driveway at 1pm - not a hard days drive at all! It's good to go and we enjoyed our time in Branson...but it's good to be home again!

Rad1945, sorry to hear of your flat, but at least you were still at the campground!!!

Sunny, my buddy, I had nothing at all to do with your two flats, but believe me I know how you felt. I'm GLAD ya'll got the problem fixed and on your way home safely by now. It's not fun being stuck on the side of the road with ONE tire...let alone two! No No

Ken Hammett, I read your post re your mother before leaving ABC. Please know you and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers. Please keep us posted.

Sandy

Pulled out of ABC at 7:30 yesterday and ran with Darnells and Rowells to Greenfield IN where we overnighted. Yesterday was an easy 500 mile day with dinner along the way and still arived in Greenfield in time to have a real crackling wood campfire for a couple hours.

Finished up the final 400 miles today and pulled into the driveway around 3:00 PM.

All in all a great rally. Thanks all for attending and participating and making it such a great time.

Bev & I left 7 AM Sat and made it home safely at 9 PM. We drove straight through. My son helped with the driving. Bev & I as well as our 2 guests had a great time. Our special thanks to Bob and his staff for all their fine efforts. The ABC staff (Michelle) did an excellent job also. Bev is so appreciative to all who helped her deal with her problem. We almost canceled our trip but with help from Bob in securing a golf cart we were able to attend and are happy we did. Big Hand

Last year we had about 50/50. (Rigs with more than two folks and rigs with one or two folks)

Besides it is a FAMILY site. Go to times where the kids are in school and you turn it into an "Grey hair gathering". (Or no hair )

If going to a rally without kids is your goal, there several groups that plan thier rallys to be "Kid-less".

Personally campin and kids go hand in hand in my book. Take the kids away and it is not a "Family affair". Some of my best memories growing up are times spent with Mom, Dad and my sister "Campin" in "Camper".

So my point of view is if the kids can't go I ain't gonna have any part of it. (Attend, support or anything else...)

Response from Bob (Rebelsbeach)
quote:
We will ALWAYS be a family site and in accordance with that will schedule our rallies accordingly

How did you 2 ever come up with the idea that my question ever suggested the exclusion of children and families from our rallies? I suggested Fall for a seasonal change, color and cool weather, as a draw, not to eliminate families as you 2 implied. I asked how many families attend as a data point to see what impact it might make to try something differant. I have never seen anything written on this web site that states the creed of this group (primarely a family group) only that it was a group for people with an interest in RVing. Guys, as a matter of timing and school, don't forget, my DW is a HS teacher. Nuff said. Mad

On another note,
we are very disapointed in missing this rally, but due to Pat's mothers sudden demise we had to stay home with the family. Mom passed away on Friday afternoon the 20th. We thank all of you for your calls and notes during this sad time. God bless you.

We did get home safe about 4:00 PM today but spent a lot of $$$$ as Sandy & Rusty can tell you tires are not cheep. Sandy I didn't mean youmade it happen but it started with you'll and I know that you don't want to keep every thing for yourself so you just spread it a round. This was a fun trip but I think Sat. was Fri. the 13. Yall have not heard all of this story yet.

Steve, my prayers are with you and Pat in your time of loss...I only met her once, but Pat's mother was a nice person.

IRT to the family comment I made, I was simply restating the intentions of the Rally Committee and wasn't directing my comments at any one person...

The 2009 Rally will in fact be moved back to the latter part of June in an attempt to get into cooler weather...Not a perfect science, but we're trying.
