thought this would interest some. we just came home from a trip the the upper peninsula. in spite of all the doom and gloom we hear about it was very busy on the highways and byways. we left houghton lake in the lower traveling up i75 which was very busy, traveled over the mackinac bridge to st. ignace,on to ishpeming back across to sault st marie, down to cedarville, back south to oscoda where our stick house resides. all the rv parks we we stayed were quite busy! great trip great weather.

Funny how things work. The DW and I went from our place (between the Sault and Cedarville) to Houghton Lake this past week. If we didn't meet on the road, you went right past our place. We too noticed and commented ablut all the RV's on the road. License plates covered every state from East Coast to Wyoming. Maybe those farther west think the cost of fuel is too high...

beaverjim -

We're from NW Ohio, but my wife has relatives in the UP and we love taking our travel trailer up there. Talk about "getting away from it all" this is where you do it! It's beautiful.

We found a small campground (Summer Breeze CG) just outside of Iron Mountain a few miles, that we really enjoyed. Also, Lake Michigamee Shore CG is another excellent one. They're all worth checking out. Smile

We're currently at the Mill Creek CG outside of Mackinac City. On the way here from Frankenmuth the other day, we saw more RV's on I-75 then I've seen in quite some time. Amazing. Gas prices have dropped, but they are at $4.09 on both side of the big bridge. RV'ers are still RVing. Smile We're going to the Soo locks next week and I expect more of the same. The weather here has been great.
