I have a 2001 Horizon and the automotive A/C has stopped working. It has coolant and the dash switch is putting out 12v to it's outputs. The compressor is not running. There is a wire going to it but it does not have any voltage on it when the A/C is turned on. Does anyone know which of the fuses in the fuse block area up front is the right one and/or what size fuse goes to the compressor? Or if there is a fuse located somewhere else? Or any other suggestion?

Do you mean "coolant" (as in the stuff in the radiator) or freon in the a/c system? In other words, has the a/c been tested for low freon?

I'll add a shortcut to the Winnebago Owners forum in case somebody there has experienced this problem.

Your A/C system might have a "low pressure" switch that prevents the compressor clutch from engaging when there is insufficient refrigerant in the system.

You can buy an R-134 recharge kit in any Walmart, Advance Auto Parts, etc. for around $20.00. The kit contains a can or R-134 and a charging hose with a gauge that you connect to the Schrader valve on the suction side of your A/C system to determine the amount of refrigerant in your unit.

Last month, I had the same symptoms you described with my F-250. Once I started adding refrigerant the pressure in the A/C system got high enough to allow the compressor clutch to engage and the compressor started cycling on/off frequently. As more refrigerant was added, the compressor began staying on for longer periods and, by the time the gauge indicated there was sufficient refrigerant, the compressor was staying on almost all the time.

I found the procedure easy to do. Just follow the directions included with the recharge kit.

Thanks for the replies. I have found the problem. It is the thermocouple relay. It is not letting voltage through to the pressure sensor which then goes to the compressor. If I bypass the thermocouple relay then everything works. I am not sure yet how difficult it will be replace the thermocouple.
