I'm adding a solar panel which did not come with screws for attachment to the roof. I'm not replacing the 10w panel that's up there, so I have no screws to reuse.
Anyone added panels to the roof? What screws did you use? TIA. Jim 2002 Ultimate Advantage 40J/ISC350 |

That's a good thread about adding solar panels, but it doesn't exactly address fasteners.
We have a 100 pound Motosat Datastorm (Satellite Internet) and a Motosat Executive TV dish (I installed the latter) on the roof and both are fastened with about #10 or #12 stainless steel sheet metal screws. What really provides the holding power is surface area of the aluminum bases and lots of Dicor between the mounting plate and the roof. If your solar panel only has small mounting ears or tabs, you could add an aluminum plate to each mounting ear to provide more surface area for Dicor adhesion. --John 2005 Horizon 40AD, 2005 Jeep Liberty CRD Datastorm - F1 Our current location Our blog Our web site Current weather at the ranch Ranch webcam |

I have 3ea. 100W panels from AM Solar that are attached with Scotch VHB double sided tape. This stuff is touted as a replacement for rivets and screws. They're not kidding!
