Does anyone know how to adjust the emergency brake on a Ford chassis? I have a 2000 Adventurer 35U with Ford V-10.

The park brake is on the transmission tailshaft. It looks like a brake drum around the drive shaft. You will see a cable attached to the unit through a clevis on the end of a threaded rod. Loosen the lock nut, remove the clevis pin and screw the clevis a few turns further onto the threaded rod. Replace pin and tighten lock nut and you are done. Make sure not to go too tight so as to create drag or you will have a huge repair bill.

Thank you both for the procedure and picture. I really appreciate it.

Herb,
I hope it only requires adjusting. A replacement by a Ford Service shop will be will be well over $1,000.00. Ford parts people sell the unit for over $600.00. I removed the complete unit myself, then I found a "drive" specialist in town and he took the unit apart, replaced the brake and both bearings for less than $250.00.
