I've said before I was getting too old and fat to do a lot of repairs on my rig, but, alas, my favorite and trusted RV guys sold their place, auctioned off their stuff, and closed the business. They will be missed by many RV'rs in my area.

OK, so I crawled under the greasy beast and took about one hour of grimey work to remove the hose. Next day took old hose to well known rubber supply house to have new hose made up. Told the guy, "make the new one at least one foot longer than this old one. I want a little play." No problem, he says. Fifteen minutes later I leave with a much heavier hose with nice, shiny fittings.

Next day I crawl under the greasy beast again and re-route the new hose. Of course you have to hug the rear axle, get up close and personal with the U-joints, pretty dirty work for a daytime desk jockey. And, the new hose is a bit more than ONE FOOT TOO SHORT!!! .

I guess my "make the new hose at least one foot longer" got translated to "one foot shorter.!"

I de-grease myself and race to a local auto parts store 15 minutes before they close and they make me an 18" inch hose and I finish the job by dark.

Sounds like your hose guy might be related to my carpenter buddy. He cut his board 3 times and it still was too short

That was your bedroom slide, right? Have you had any problems with the big slide? I also replaced the bed slide last year and was wondering if I should expect the same problem with the other slide.

It was a long 1/4" I.D. hose that goes from the pump assembly to the ram for the rear slide. From what I could tell, looks like another of the 1/4" hoses was replaced before I got the rig. According to HWH, it was their 1/8" hose that were problematic. For now, none of the smaller hoses are leaking (that I can see) so I'm holding my breath. Those little hoses that attach to the rear slide ram and disappear up toward the bedroom floor look really difficult to access. I might lose my religion if I have to replace those .

The hose I replaced was leaking at the fitting. However, when I remove the hose, I discovered it was almost completely melted through where it was obviously mis-routed and allowed to rest very near the exhaust pipe. All the other hoses were cable tied together and run along the inside of the frame. My thinking is this particular hose was too short from the get-go, and the installers routed it over the top of the frame near the engine exhaust to make it work. That was the reason I wanted the 'hose guy' to make it a foot longer.
