Well, I guess I'll add my 2 cents.
My wife and I owned a Safari Trek 30 footer before deciding to get our retirement coach early, so after looking at over 50 RV's in 2 weeks, there it was, without a doubt, the most beautiful thing we had ever walked into. It took a whole day of discussions, dealing, figuring, more dealing, a long lunch, and finally, we decided this is going to be ours. We bought it!! 2002 Winnebago Chieftan 39T!!!!! After being in a no slide RV and going to the 39T, this thing is a palace!!! We just love it. Had it out twice already and now, on Sunday my wifes comments are, do we have to go home now?? LOL So there ya have it, WE are happy campers!! Congrats on the new Winnebago Chieftan!!
As you've already discovered,there are many good folks here on these forums. You might also check out the Workhorse Chassis Owner's Forum here on irv2 as well for "chassis specific" issues regarding your Workhorse chassis. Most anything to do with the "house" portioj of your coach can be searched here in the Winnebago Owner's Forum, but usually you'll do better with chassis issues over there. While there are many knowledgeable folks over there, "DriVer" is one of our site administrators and a very knowledgeable guy in the Workhorse arena... Happy camping! This message has been edited. I read these postings to my husband as he repairs and engineers new improvements to our motorhome. We live on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi and like so many of our neighbors are fighting back after Hurricane Katrina. We leave to get away from the scenery of destruction although this spring has been glorious. Pretty soon you all can come back to our beautiful coast and enjoy our wonderful campgrounds.

Well Bob... I am here to. I have been quite active on RV.Net and discovered this forum last weekend. Looking forward to contribute and learn a lot from you guys.
We have a 2005 Journey 36G and moved from sailing after 30+ years on the water. We now do dry sailing on our LND YAT (actual license plate). All the best Rose & Newton |

I do not know where to begin, except to ask how and who do I contact at Winnebago about the "bugs that have to be worked out" in a new motorhome, that has cause me a great deal of inconvenience and irritation? I purchase a new 2006 29 foot Outlook January 25, 2006. I have returned it to the dealer 2 times in the three (3)months (picking it today -- again)of ownership. I believe it is more than just "bugs that have to be worked out." The toilet leaked, seals had to be replace, the entertainment center was not working, it was miswired in some areas, and just not hooked up properly in others, the outside entertainment center ate my CD - it was not working right - some aspect of it was too tight, the roof leaked, with an area of seeping water line on the ceiling and dripping) the trim around the windshield had to be glued down,(although the windshield was sealed) the vent over the bathroom keeps breaking in the same place (they had to replace it the time of the walk-through), although it was not broken during the time of purchase, and now it broke again... like it is not fitting properly. It seems to break with the movement of the MH. The wallpaper strips, keep coming down. The Fresh water tank would not empty properly, they said the sensors were dirty. How, I just picked up the crazy thing, and the water the dealer put it was the water I could not empy out. How could the sensors be dirty? And no fluid in the windshield washers - cab part, -- this was minor. However it all adds up to poor quality control and extremely irriating. These rigs cost way too much for these "bugs." We bought the Winnebago because they are suppose to be well constructed. Well, "these bugs that have be worked out" are wearing a bit thin on me. The dealership is 1-2hours down the road with a lot of crazy Austin city driving. Plus the inconvience of trying to find someone to pick me after I leave the MH and then have someone take me to pick up the MH. The Dealership has been exceptional with their assistance, and all they say, "this should not be happening." They are right. It shouldn't. As I said, these repairs are more than "Bugs that have to be worked out." They are not rattles, they are items if not caught could and would cause serious harm/injury and costly repair to the MH. I would appreciate any suggestions of whom I can contact. Like I said, after 3 months of ownership, I have had some serious repairs completed. I am sorry if I have offened anyone with my rambling. Hopefully people at Winnebago reads this submissions, and they can give me an answer. Because the "bugs" have to stop, I think they have exercised enough cause I am leaving for a three week trip soon. It seems after every trip I take there are more "bugs" that infestate. Thank you in advance for any suggestions you can offer. |
