I have a small (one drop every 30 seconds), of cold water coming from some where around the rear of my water heater. I had a new check valve installed and the leak quit for about two months of continuous use. Then it started again at about the same rate. Very difficult for an aged soul to see behind the water heater. Any one had this problem before? Could you fix it with out pulling the w/h? I am going to take it to a dealer, but am curious as to what might be the problem. Would be interested in all suggestions. I have shut off the by-pass valve and this stops the leak, even though the tank is full.

How about buying an inspection mirror and taking a peek behind the water heater? Might just be something you can get a wrench on and tighten.

Great idea but I have tried that, the compartment is just too small for a 225 lb 6'2'' guy with a bad back to get into, even to do that. I have a computer picture of the rear of the heater and see several connections that could cause the problem.

More then likely that is your problem.I checked all mine when I bought it and a lot of the plumbing connections where hand tight .I have enough gouges in my bald head to prove I fit back there.

I had the same problem while on a trip. I took contents out of storage compartment and got my body in as far as possible. With flashlight I saw that the nut holding the pressure line to back of heater was split. I found (with luck)the part I needed at a hardware store. I drained the water down below intake and removed line and replaced nut. It took awhile (45 min)as it is hard to get to plus I am 65 yrs old. My heater is in right frt side of coach.
