How do you all lubricate your stabilizer jacks? I have the BAL scissor jacks that must be cranked up and down with a drill or jack handle. The long screws that work the scissor action are getting very tough to work but everything I've used to lube them seems to attract so much dirt and grit that they quickly wind up tough to crank again. What success have you had?

I use WATER!!

Just keep the screw rod nice and clean and it doesn't bind up. Any petroleum based lubricant you try to use will attract dirt and grit and just gum things up.

about once a year i coat the screws with some bearing grease, yes i know that it attracts dirt but it works

Tim,all I used on my BAL jacks when I had them was pure silicone spray,I sprayed them heavy twice during the camping season,till the spray drip off with the grime,hope that helps.

My trailer dealer told me to use "dry graphite"..
Purchase in spray can....Sprays on wet and drys in a few minutes.....My jacks work well....

I clean them every new season and then lube them up with the thick bearing grease. It sticks to the screw and water doesn't seem to affect it.

I use the same Protect-All dry lubricant that I use on the slideout mechanism. Works great and doesn't attract dirt as grease tends to.

I use WD40. I spray all of the joints and the entire screw. Once a year usually is all it takes, but if they get tough again, I spray again.

Spray graphite by whatever name is the best, when the carrier evaporates and the lubricant drys there is nothing to hold contaminants, water won't wash it off either. Usually it will last one season or more depending on usage.

Remain laidback and unruffled, camping is great!

Like those before me I have found the dry type lubes to work very well. I have also found that by putting a short set of mud flaps directly in front of the jacks helps keep the heavy dirt and mud out of the jacks that regular flaps behind the tires do not keep out.
