Hi iRV2 Gang! Thanks to route help from fellow iRV2 folks back in March, we did finally get to visit this magnificient Monument Valley area. It's absolutely beautiful and for anyone bouncing around who hasn't been here...put it near the top of your list!!! We took a day long jeep ride all through the Valley with a permitted Navajo driver yesterday and saw it all...well most of it anyway. There are many parts of the park you can't drive to w/o being accompanied by one of the local Navajo folks. It was $90.00 each BUT VERY VERY worth it. Have our 45 ft. MH at the Goulding RV Park and it's a great campground for visiting the Valley. Try it....you'll like it. Bye for now. Steve & Lynette

Glad your family enjoyed the area. Have you taken a day-trip North to Valley of the Gods yet? It's not as spectacular but still a very pretty drive through the valley. There are no tours, you must drive your own vehicle. If it rains, don't go unless you have 4WD the road is dirt.
Remain laidback and unruffled, camping is great! Army, 11B5MX, retired 2005 Grand Junction 35TMS 2002 Chevrolet K3500,CC,LB,black,Blacked out lighting, limo tint, shaved. 1932 Chevrolet Confederate BA(other woman) |

Ray,IN: Hi. Well, we don't think we visited Valley of the Gods. When we left Goulding's, we did head North then East over to 191 South back to 160 and East over to Four Corners. We're currently in Colorado Springs and leaving in a.m. (Tues. 5/27) for Wyoming and on to Deadwood, SD. Don't know whether our "All Wheel Drive" Honda Element would have handled the dirt roads but next time we're there, we'll take your advice and give-er a try. Thanks. Steve & Lynette

Hello Steve, We too just left Monument Valley and would put it up there on the top of the list.
I'd beg to differ on the part about taking the jeep tour with the guide. We chose to go on our own and were able to take our time and actually stop anywhere we wanted to. I guess if you didnt have a vehicle, then I'd have taken that tour, but if you have any vehicle, even a car, I'd drive yourself. We didnt camp at Gouldings, we chose to camp right on the rim so we could be there for sun sets and sunrise photos! Like I said, Way at the top of the list! |

Hi Every Mile: Wonderful pics...again. Wish we knew how to get such beautiful photos, but that's why there are pros...I guess. We'll accidentally get a great one but no where as gorgeous as yours. Thanks. Steve & Lynette

Hey Steve, that why we were there was for a Photo Seminar with some fellow RVers.
We would go out every morning and take photos and then critique each others shots and swap secrets during the day while we all sat around hanging out getting to know one another Made for a great time, and couldnt think of a better place to attend a seminar. Here is a full gallery of the Monument Valley Photo Seminar http://www.everymilesamemory.com/gallery/v/Monument_Valley_Arizona/ Enjoy Pat & Cindy Bonish This message has been edited. Great photos thanks for sharing them. We are heading to Arizona in two weeks. This was one of our stops, I can't wait to see it now.

That spot believe it or not is the campground in Monument Valley right now. They have the normal one closed down for repairs and have you camped right on the rim of the valley. We stayed there for a full week, so we were able to get one day where there was no campers beside us to get that shot. There are no hook-ups available, so be warned before you plan on staying there if you're not set up for drycamping. But it's way worth it because of the views! Have fun on you trip! |
