OK, now don't get the guns out until you read the whole post.
I have a 2003 Ultimate Freedom on a Spartan Chassis. this is my first pusher so I don't really have anything to compare with other chassis's. Everyone tells me that Spartan is a superior chassis and how lucky I am to have one on my motorhome, but I have no idea "why" it is superior. I know it drives and handles like a dream, but I assume most other pushers do the same? Just looking for some specifics that make MY chassis superior???? RV Wizard can attest as he has first hand knowledge of my lack of all things mechanical. |

Lou, What model Spartan chassis are you on? I know, I know; it a technical question but Spartan does make about 5 or 6 different one just for the motorhome industry not to mention the emergency vehicle industry models. The only real superior chassis I can think of is the Prevost

Mike, not to be technical cuz I'm not going there, but isn't the Prevost (and all it's users) "really" a bus chassis that is converted for motor home (or motor "coach"...LOL) use?
Just as they use the MCI chassis on buses AND RV's? My favorite Prevo is the Marathon conversion.... |

Mike,
Not too technical for ME !!! I looked it up on the Winnebago Website. I have a Mountain Master GT. Sounds pretty cool. |

Bob, although the first prevost motorhome were on a bus chasis that was converted to a motorhome I believe now they build the coach for the motorhome converter. THe only way they will warranty the coach that has a slideout is if they built the coach with the slide out in it at the factory. I have been through the Parliment plant in Clearwater and saw the operation from the shell that comes in from Canada to the finished product and all stages in between. It is quite a pice of work.

Lou, Mountain Master GT, that is cool.
What wheel base do you have and how long is the coach? Mike, Cert. RV Master Tech. Amy, RV Merchandiser & Muffin our Shih-Tzu 00 Gulf Stream Scenic Cruiser |

Geez Mike, there you go getting technical on me again.
Ok the Motorhome is suppose to be 40'but the Spec sheet list shows 39'11", maybe I should ask for a refund for my 1" from Winnebago !!! The Wheelbase is 267" GCWR 43,700 GVWR 33,700 I know you didn't ask about the weights but I figured I would throw them in there to be impressive !!!??? |

Lou, my next question would have been the weight rating; I have to take all this stuff in gradually so as not to overload the brain! I would think they would be using the 276" wheel base chassis. I am sure you enjoy driving it anyway and I do like it over the competitors.
