Hello all,
This is my first post on this forum. I have a 2000 Minnie Winnie DL 31Ft. I have read about lots of people using eternabond on their roofs, and I am going to do the same. I of course also get leaks from time to time on the lower part of the "cabover" I have used chalking on this in the past. Have any of you used eternabond on these edges and corners? If so, how were the results. Is it recommended to not do this because it is permanent? Thanks in advance, Tim |

Tim, welcome to iRV2.com. We are glad to have you join us here and we look forward to reading of your adventures and experiences. You should look very closely (remove and inspect) at the clearance lights as this can be a soutrce of your leaks as well as the edge molding areas. What type of caulking have you used in the past? Did you remove the old caulking first? I do not think that you would want to use the Eternabond tape in this area; even if it did seal out the water, the job would look tacky at best. I will have to get the part # of the approved caulking from work and get that info to you.

Eternabond is a great sealer when properly applied (clean surface, laid on smoothly with no ripples). If you don't mind the look of it where you plan to apply it, go ahead and use it.

When we had a Class C, I used Eternabond down the front edges of the cabover. It really didn't look very good and because of the bends that it had to make, it had some puckers. Maybe you will have better results than I did, good luck, HarveyP

Thanks to everyone for the responses. I think I will do the roof first and see how it looks. I plan on having this rig for 10 years or more, so the look versus function is certainly weighed much more on function side. I may buy a a roll of 2in in addition to the 4in for the roof to do some hoses underneath and then decide. I will let you know if I end up going with the tape.
The previous owner had done the chalking on the cabover edge and did not do a very pretty job to begin with so I would not be hurting the look much. Thanks again, Tim |
