we have a 05 tioga with a ford V10--it dies without warning--engine stops which leaves us with no power steering or power breaks--the first time this happened was in florida and the dealer said they were having so many problems with the fuel pump they could not get one in florida and had to order one from atlanta--it is now in the shop in colorado--the engine stopped 6 times in less than 150 miles--the dealer now says he can't find anything wrong--this is a new coach (we now have 9000 miles)--anyone else have or has experienced this problem--it ruins your day when going up or down a mountain pass when this happens--thanks for you help----

Welcome gmanuel740 to irv2 Wave
Had a 96 Ford that had same problems as you and it was same fuel pump. Has anyone checked or changed your fuel filter because that will give you same problem if getting plugged.
Has anyone checked wiring batt & ground connections could have a loose wire. Wires that may have fallin onto hot tail pipe have been known to give you a problem.
These are just somethings to check when you get it resolved please let us know the results.
I will make a short cut to Ford Chassis Forum also to try and help you.

Have you received a recall notice from Ford or check one of the many websites for a recall.
It seems as though Ford is having a problem with V10s shutting off witout warning and they are saying "a crash could occur".
They have a recall dated 7-22-05 that involves the Fuel Injector Control Module Wiring Harness and the Injector Control Pressure Sensor connector
Hope it helps

Mike, Are you sure that recall applies to the V10? In the verbiage, it reads "EQUIPPED WITH 6.0L DIESEL ENGINES". Confused

I went through "find the recall per vehicle" and used the V10 as the motor of choice and it took me to the same recall as the deisel.
As a matter of fact just about any size engine you inserted into column took you to the same recall.
Since it appears to be a harness/ connector problem they may share some or all components within engine families.
34 yrs in the auto industry has taught me that they don't always make it easy to get it done.
I would call your local Ford dealer for more precise details.
Good Luck and be careful.

check the mass air flow if it gets plugged even with a bug it will shut you down...it feels like a fuel problem though...

We had a similar problem with our 95 town car and it turned out to be a faulty fuel pump relay module. It was a small cube plug in type module located in the engine compartment near the firewall. It was one of 3 plug in modules. Don't know if the same type is currently used with the later model v-10 engines.

Don't know if this is relevant. On my 95 ford chassis class C and on our 92 ford explorer there was a fuel pump emergency shut off switch that was inertia actuated such as in a crash. This switch was typically located in the passenger side cowling trim under the dash area. I have read in the internet years ago that this switch was problem-some and could cause the engine/pump to stop. Just a thought..
