I bought one last year for an extended trip in the states with my wife and son and we loved it! Got great milage towing a Jeep Liberty diesel. With prices going up and up in us, it is the best option on the market I think. We will be back in the states next month and will travel some more, but probably will need to sell it this fall or late summer as we are buying a home in the atlanta area. If someone out there wants a great, like new view with all options including in-motion satt. system, give me a message at Loyveal@gmail.com

I would love to see the CCC on these units. There have been some complaining about the low CCC in these.....less than 400 lbs in some cases. Eek

Has anyone here compared the Winnebago View 24H to the Winnebago Access 22B? They have the same floorplans but are priced, in general, about $40k apart.

Please disregard my request above. I'm no longer considering the Access. Thanks.

What has replaced the View in your quest?

Actually, we've settled on the View. The Access, while much cheaper, just doesn't have many of the View's qualities, or generate nearly the buzz from satisfied owners.

kathynbill,

Funny you should bring up the question about the need for a toad with a Navion or View . . . there seems to be quite a few "purist" who contend there is NO WAY you need or should tow with a Navion or View because they are small and get around so well.

My take on the issue is this-
the manner in which one travels and uses a motor home is the primary factor in deciding the value of a toad . . . NOT the size of the motor home.

If your method of travel is to stay on the move nearly every day, then a toad is just extra weight, expense and work.

However, if your method of travel is to go to one area and stay awhile before moving to the next area to stay awhile, then a toad might be a good thing.

We typically take our toad with us because we tend to spend a day or two traveling to an area, then stay for 4 to 7 days. Then we'll travel again for a day or two, then stay for another 4 to 7 days, etc.

We've had our View for about 2.5 years and we have nearly 30,000 miles on it. If we didn't have a toad and traveled all the places we've already traveled in that time, we'd have more like 60,000 miles on the View. Even though the View gets relatively great mpg (say 14 to 15 with the toad), our Scion gets about 35 mpg!

A toad just makes sense for us . . . may not for others who travel differently.

Can an automatic Scion xA be towed
four wheel down by a Winnebago View?

If not, what other automatic car
could be towed by a View?

You will have to do some research to figure it out. First you need to learn the GCWR of the View - the maximum combined weight of the motorhome and anything in tow behind it. According to the Winnebago web site, the GCWR of the current View is 14,530 and a fully loaded View can weigh as much as 11,030 lbs, so the max weight of the towed vehicle (including the towbar and any gear stored in the car) would be 3500 lbs. I suspect a Scion Xa is within that, but check it out and see.

You can tow a Saturn Aura, Ion, or a 2007 or older Vue, but not the 2008 Vue as it weighs 3,800 lbs. Chuck/Bagman57
