Does anyone have suggestions on how to refill fresh water on the road? I do not stay in campgrounds, stay in Walmarts when traveling, and boondock on the weekends. Thanks.

Hi Mxman 132,

Maybe you could try and ask Walmart if you can give them some money for water, you know use the hose in the garden dept, but pay them what they are charging for there spring water I think they have a bulk rate, or maybe even buy a few of the 5 gallon jugs from them! Maybe a town water company would sell you water, or go to a church and offer to pay them something to let you fill up. Or maybe every once in a while stay in a state park or campground, and fill up before you leave! Just some ideas hope it helps!! However I was also wondering what have you done in the past, it says you have been a member here for 2 1/2 years??

I can only say that I've gotten water at the following locations:

Flying J at the RV island (also have dump station)

Love's, also have dump stations

Some Cabela's stores....for example, the one in Mitchell, SD had RV parking, fresh water and a dump station

Some rest areas...seems that the Western states are more likely to have dump stations and fresh water at their rest areas.

In the past, I have filled up before hitting the road. We race motorcycles and I pull a trailer with 80 gallons of water we use to wash the bikes. Between the MH and the trailer that adds up to 180 gallons, times 8 lbs per gallon, which is 1500 lbs. I would like to start near empty and fill up closer to my destination to get better performance on the road.
