I asked this earlier but was looking for an update. I will be traveking from Upstate NY to Oshkosh, WI next weekend and would like advice on Chicago. We will be traveling thru on Saturday AM (10:00 ish). Should I stay on I-80 to I-39 north or could I save time by going I-90 or I-294 thru Chicago?
Thanks for the help.

Pete

I-80 pssses you by the south end of Chicago. You can either keep on going to I-39 or peel off on I-294. If you go to I-39 you'd have to back track a bit once you get up into Wisconsin in order to get to Oshkosh. If you take I-294 up and around Chicago it's shorter. Chicago is never fun, but we always run I-80 and I-294 and put up with it. It's not all that bad if you hit it at off-peak times. No way would I run I-94 through Chicago with a large RV.

I just drove home from Lake Geneva, WI Monday and took I-39 around it. If I were coming from NY I'd take I-80 over to I-39 and up from there, I have no interest in driving anywhere near Chicago, some of the people who drive those Freeways are maniacs on wheels.

I took 294 to Fond du Lac on the July 4 weekend in my Motorhome. There is construction and it is a little rough. Saturday AM shouldn't be too bad. Don't try it on Fri PM or Sun PM. Heck of a lot shorter than the I39 route. Take I894 to 41 around Milwaukee. Good Luck,

Thanks for all the info. I think I will try the I-294 route since it is off hours.
